Back Pressure Relief Valve
What is a Back Pressure Regulator?
A back pressure regulator is a device used to accurately control the pressure of a system, through opening just as much as is needed to return to normal pressure levels. The back pressure regulator keeps a steady pressure by regulating flow through it as it reacts to the pressure levels of the system to keep good stability.
Back pressure relief valve is throttling relief valve used to protect vessels, equipment & piping system from over pressure while maintaining a steady system pressure at the desired level. A smooth throttling action minimizes pressure surge during operation.
A popular application is on solvent storage tanks which are equipped with Nitrogen blanketing system. During tank filling application, Back pressure allow venting of Nitrogen & solvent vapours while maintaining the nitrogen blanketing pressure in the tank at desired level.
The Back Pressure Valve is also essential part of pumping system with multiple consumption points with varying flow demand. Back Pressure Regulating valves relieve the unused capacity back to sump through return line, while maintaining the system at desired pressure irrespective of variation in consumption.
