PRESSURE REGULATING STATION
Nirmal’s Pressure Regulating station (PRS) is a system which is required to supply certain quantity of gas at specific operating pressure. The PRS essentially performs a safety function i.e. limit the downstream pressure up to predetermined set point though inlet pressure varies between maximum to minimum.
Incidentally the limitation of pressure in the downstream end is supported by safety devices like Slam shut-off valve, safety relief valve, creep relief valve etc.
The pressure regulators and safety devices are powered by gas itself, so that this function does not require any external power source i.e. comp. air or electrical supply.
About Nirmal Pressure Regulating Station
Nirmal manufactures compact hydrogen pressure regulation station ideally designed for cylinder cascade / trolley or cylinder unloading. This standardized station is cost effective solution for applications where hydrogen gas at constant controlled pressure is desired for hydrogenation process in the industries such as pharmaceutical, chemical, edible oil, aromatics, etc.
High accuracy in control of final outlet pressure supplied to process is guaranteed with two stage pressure reduction, despite varying inlet pressure as cylinder get emptied from full pressure of 200 Bar down to almost pressure required at outlet. The high-pressure side components of the station are designed for operating pressure of 210 Bar (3000 Psi).
Special Features of Nirmal High Pressure Reducing Station
Inbuilt Safety : Being a high-pressure section two level safeties are incorporated at first stage regulator i.e. Safety shutoff loop & full capacity safety relief valve to safeguard the further equipment's in case of malfunction of the regulator.
Optimal Utilization of Cylinders / Trolley : Due to very low pressure drop technology adopted in design, hydrogen in gas is fully utilized. Thus system pays back by ensuring fast and maximum possible emptying of hydrogen cylinders, reducing batch time and reducing number of cylinders change over as compared to other means of hydrogen unloading.
Less Flange Joints : Having a single flange joint at high pressure section, all other joints are welded construction thus eliminating the leakage possibilities.
Twin Stream Redundancy : Where application is very critical and redundancy is required, two units can be installed side by side, one working and other stand-by with fabricated common outlet end.
Compact Design : The construction of station is compact having easy accessibility to all the components for operation and maintenance.
Easy Maintenance : Need not to remove any component from the line for maintenance, making maintenance of the entire component easy.
Various Components involved in Pressure Regulating Station:
Component | Purpose |
---|---|
Ball Valves | To isolate the system from main supply or to isolate the either side of PRS. |
Filtration Unit | A filter protects rest of the system from any debris or dust that may carried with gas stream. Debris may for example consist of parts accidently left in the pipe during construction. It could also result from swarf from drilling holes & taps or welding & sand from construction or fine iron oxide dust. |
Slam Shut-Off Valve | Slam Shut-Off valves is installed after Filter & before pressure regulator. Slam Shut-Off valve close the supply of gas when a downstream pressure exceeds a pre-determined limit. |
Pressure Regulator | Pressure regulator maintain downstream pressure at certain quantity of gas, irrespective of variation in upstream pressure from maximum to minimum limit. Spring loaded or Pilot operated pressure regulators are used. |
Relief Valves |
|
Pressure Gauges | To monitor upstream and downstream pressure, the pressure gauges are installed. Isolation valve is provided with each pressure gauge for easy replacement of pressure gauges in case of failure. |
Heaters | The reduction of compressed Natural gas pressure causes a drop in temperature. In terms of physics, this is known as the Joule Thompson effect. This drop in temperature can create operational and material quality problems in the distribution networks. The water vapor dew point falls and causes icing within and outside the pipelines. |
To overcome the problem, preheating the natural gas before the pressure reduction is necessary.
We also supply CNG pressure reducing systems having following heating arrangements.
